1966 At the Stonehouse

This group shot was taken in 1966. The band was appearing at The Stonehouse on Arsenal Street in Watertown.

Duke is holding a Fender Jaguar, Tom a Rickenbacker 620, and Jack, a Hofner Beatle Bass. Their amps at that time included Fender Bandmasters & Showmen as well as an Ampeg B18. Garnet played Ludwig drums with Zilgian cymbals at The StoneHouse. They were identical to those played by Ringo Starr.

A few weeks after this photo was taken, Keyboardist Gary Flagg would join the band. Gary played a Vox Continental organ for a time, and later used a Thomas with a Leslie speaker cabinet. The addition of an electronic oragn allowed for an increased repertoire.

PINE LODGE

Pine Lodge was one of four favorite places where the group liked to perform. The acoustics in the ‘big room’ were thought of as one of the best for rock and roll.

By 1967, individualism was in, and dressing alike was out. It was a time the...'in look'.

Members by then had moved onto different pieces of equipment: Duke was playing a Gretch Tennessean, while Tom used a Gretch Custom Duo-Jet, but Jack's love for his Hofner bass continued on. Vox amplifiers were popular at that time and PA speaker columns were by Temple and Vox. Later still, the group would move on to Sunn amps
